A call for judges

This is a copy from the Cellarmasters to previous and prospective judges

Hello past Judges,

This year is the 50th annual Cellarmasters Home Winemaking Competition! Our event is going to  be held, once again, at Camarillo Custom Crush winery, in Camarillo on  the weekend of November 18 & 19, 2023.

As  a past judge, you know how important being a judge is to what we do.  Without you there is no competition! Cellarmasters has earned a  reputation over the last 50 years of providing valuable feedback to all  who enter their wines. This feedback has helped many home winemakers  become better at their craft, and this in turn means we receive better  wines to taste and evaluate.

Since  you have been a judge for the competition in the past, we would love to  see you there this year. Please let us know if you will be able to help  make Cellarmasters 50th annual competition even more  exciting than it has been in the past. If you can judge one of the days  or both days, please save the date and let us know that we’ll see you  there.

Cellarmasters  will be holding two classes for judges and potential judges, or those  who just want to learn a little more about wine, prior to the  competition. On October 28th we will be conducting a sensory  evaluation class, to learn more about what you’re detecting in the wine.  This class is always a great refresher for judges prior to the  competition.

The following Saturday, November 4th,  there will be a class focused on how to judge. We will walk through the  judging sheet and look at each section and how it applies to the  overall scoring of the wine. Of course, this means we will have to taste  some wine to really see how it all comes together! The classes last  about 4 hours and include some wine and lunch. So, we hope to see you  there!

Either way, please let us know if you’ll join us on November 18th and/or 19th!
